LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Benefit Luncheon

On January 19, the North Lexington Family YMCA will host the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Benefit Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The luncheon will celebrate the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program and the cancer survivors who have participated since the program’s inception last summer.

The event will also include a silent auction, with proceeds benefitting the North Lexington Family YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign. Those funds support the Y’s “Open Doors” financial assistance program, which ensures that no one is turned away from Y membership or programs due to inability to pay.

The luncheon will include a casual barbecue menu, a short program highlighting the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program, and the silent auction. Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased in advance at any YMCA of Central Kentucky location or online at ymcaofcentralky.org/register-programs. Please RSVP to: Hope Sizemore Hsizemore@ymcaofcentralky.org or Melissa Bellew Mbellew@ymcaofcentralky.org

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
The Y and LIVESTRONG® joined together to create LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals.  In addition to physical benefits, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community where people impacted by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond.  The North Lexington Family YMCA has become a part of a community of cancer survivors and their families since implementing the program in July 2011.  The Y provides ‘free’ 3-month memberships to all of the survivors and their families during their participation in the program in an effort to support the whole family in their pursuit of health and well-being.

Open Doors
At the Y, no one is denied a chance to participate in programs or membership because of an inability to pay.  Additionally, membership and program fees do not cover all the costs associated with vital community programs the Y provides, like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA.  In order to meet these needs, we invite our members, community individuals and businesses to participate in the Y’s Annual Giving Campaign that supports our financial assistance program.
