Lights On Afterschool

On Thursday, October 22, several YMCA of Central Kentucky afterschool program sites celebrated "Lights On Afterschool." The YMCA recognizes that the hours of 3-6 p.m. often leave children and families with few options for childcare. Studies show that these are the peak hours for youth to commit crimes, be in or cause car crashes, be victims of crime and smoke, drink and use drugs. YMCA afterschool programs provide a safe, structured and fun solution and are offered with financial assistance to those in need.

Lights On Afterschool is an annual nationwide celebration intended to call attention to the importance of afterschool programs for America's children, families and communities.
