YMCA Helps Provide Free Tax Service

Let us prepare your tax return for FREE!

If you live in the Bluegrass and make less than $49,000, filing your tax return just got a whole lot easier. The Central Kentucky Economic Empowerment Project (CKEEP) can help you claim the Earned Income Tax Credit and other credits for which you are entitled, such as the Child Tax Credit and Dependency Care Credit.  The Earned Income Tax Credit alone can be worth up to $5,657. The IRS estimates that as many as 25% of eligible workers may be missing out on this credit. Don’t let this be you!  Regardless of where you have your taxes prepared, make sure you enquire about these tax credits to ensure you receive them if eligible.

Eighteen sites will be open in the region starting January 19 and are staffed by volunteers who are trained and certified by the IRS. All services are FREE of charge and are aimed at helping you receive the tax refund you earned. The sites include organizations such as the YMCA, the Urban League, the Family Care Center, REACH, St. Paul’s A.M.E. Church, two public libraries, the Gainesway Empowerment Center and the Central Kentucky Job Center.

For more information or to schedule an appointment at these and other sites across Lexington, just call United Way 2-1-1. (Dial 2-1-1 on your keypad.)
