Early Childhood Care
The YMCA of Central KY offers a state licensed, star-rated, developmentally appropriate Early Childhood Center that serves children infants through 5 years of age. The center operates Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The YMCA emphasizes four core values in its programming: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Through consistent modeling of these values, children build strength of character and learn to celebrate our differences while realizing we are really all the same.
Quality Program & Enriching Curriculum
The YMCA of Central KY's early childhood center is designed to help children grow cognitively, emotionally, physically, socially and creatively. The activities in the classrooms support the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards as we strive to develop skills in the children that will prepare them for success in school.
The YMCA embraces the Creative Curriculum which focuses on four major areas of development: social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. The activities in the classroom foster growth in these areas as children explore their environment through play. The Lead Teachers, who have their Bachelors Degree or Child Development Associates, along with Assistants ensure quality care in a safe and clean environment.
The center is licensed by the State of Kentucky and exceeds required day care standards while participating in the voluntary quality rating system, Stars for Kids NOW. Voluntary participation in the USDA Child Care Food Program allows the YMCA to provide a well-balanced breakfast, lunch and snack to every child enrolled.
Parental Involvement
The Early Childhood Center believes that family involvement is crucial to the success the children experience. Parent meetings, volunteer opportunities and family education are all a part of the programming at the center. Communication between the center and parents is an ongoing process and contributes to the quality of the program.
The North Lexington Family YMCA Child Development Center serves children 6 weeks - 5 years old. For more information contact Susan Nelson, the Center Director, at 859-258-9622.
